Attendance

  • To maximise effective learning the school expects 100% attendance. However, we do recognise that on occasion students may be absent due to illness or other exceptional circumstances.

  • The school requires good attendance throughout a course to guarantee entering that student for any external exams.

  • Lessons continue until the end of each term and all pupils are expected to attend.

  • If a student is ill, a parent or guardian should phone between 8.00-8.30 am to inform the school.  Upon return, the student must hand a signed note in the planner from their parent or guardian to their form tutor, explaining the absence.

  • If a student is absent for a prolonged period, work may be sent home on a ‘catch up’ sheet.

  • Any leave of absence that has not been approved by the school will be treated as unauthorised.

Punctuality

  • All students must be in school by 7.55 am and in tutor rooms by 8.00 am.

  • Students who arrive late to school must sign in at the Secondary School Office and then proceed to class.

  • Reccurring lateness will first result in a breaktime detention, then an afterschool detention.

  • Students should wear a wrist watch as there is no bell to signal the end of breaks at NCBIS.

School Transport

  • Students must remember the following when travelling on a school bus:

If you cause a problem on the bus, the school has the right to exclude you from school transportation.

If a student wishes a friend to travel home with them a letter from the parent or guardian must be given to the Transport Department at least 24 hours in advance.  Permission will not always be granted, but the student will be informed in advance.
