What is the role of the Student Council?

Monty: ‘This year, the Student Council will be in place to create a more enjoyable, more organised and more efficient community as well as contribute hugely to projects outside of school in other communities’

Lexi: ‘ The Student Council is there to provide positions of responsibility, which then will act to assist the school, help it progress into a stronger community and inspire others to get involved with its projects, whether these are improving the school’s environment or helping people in the outside community.’

Student Council Vision:

Members of the Student Council are there to liaise with students, teachers and the head boy and girl to get pupils views across.

Members of the Student Council are there to assist with any changes the school may adopt.

Members of the Student Council are there to support actions, whether they are new ones or existing.

This year the student council will:
Have a direct impact on the school, through the three committees

Be role models to other students

Student Council Update March 2010

Sudanese Refugee Visit and Presents

This term, a group of Students from the Secondary Student Council and the Primary School went to deliver presents to the Sudanese School. The students have been collecting presents donated by the NCBIS community since before Christmas. This week the Community members of the Student Council have been wrapping up the gifts and delivered them yesterday morning. Each pupil from grades 1-4 had their own present to open and the gratitude shown in their faces was overwhelming. NCBIS students that visited we’re touched and definitely saw life from a different perspective. Due to the appreciation shown, the Student Council have been inspired to do more in the future. Any suggestions from the community will be gratefully welcomed.

Year 8 Student Council member Imogen Samuels said:
It was nice to go and see how happy the Sudanese were and the joy they had with such simple things. I found it hard to believe they had nowhere to play at break times and their school was in an apartment building. It made me think how lucky I was.

We would like to thank the NCBIS community for all their donated gifts and also thank the year 5 students, student council, PTA and teachers who gave their time to the Sudanese this week.

KS3 Lunchtime Club

This term saw the start of the new KS3 Monday Lunchtime Club. Each week, different activities are held varying between watching movies and playing games. The club so far has been very successful and extremely popular amongst the KS3 and the Student Council wish for the continuing of its success in the latter part of the year.

Environment Posters

Around school there are now many posters giving messages to help the environment. The Student Council have been busy designing these and hope  that the NCBIS community will take time to read them and do their bit for environment too.
