A physical activity:
This section is designed to encourage
participation in physical recreation and
improve performance.
An Adventurous journey:
This expedition will encourage a spirit of
adventure and discovery whilst working in
teams.
These
four sections are designed to promote self
confidence, independence, lifelong interests
and a willingness to try new things; all
skills which make the Award highly
favourable to universities and employer.
The
Award is based on three levels, each
successive level requiring a greater degree
of commitment. The gold award also requires
the student to take part in a residential
project which broadens the participant’s
outlook and horizons

THE AWARD@NCBIS 2009/2010
The
Award has now been running at NCBIS for 4
years and many students have been successful
in gaining both the bronze and silver
award over that time. Participation has
encouraged these pupils to develop their
self confidence, independence and has helped
to broaden their horizons and interests.
We hope
to offer the gold award in the future & are
encouraging students to complete this level
within NCBIS.

SERVICE
We hope this year to be able to offer more
community service opportunities for
international award students.
Possible projects will include…
-
Working with pupils at the local
Sudanese Refugee School. It is hoped
that some of our students will give up
their free time to help these students
to improve their English and gain a
better quality of life.
-
Helping the school move towards an ECO
school. International award pupils will
be helping with environmental projects
in and out of school and it is hoped
that some of them will run a ‘green
team’ ECA for younger students.
-
Organising and running charity events
and days in school to raise money for
local community projects.
The International award is tough. It is not
just an ECA and it involves commitment over
a long period of time. However as well as
being challenging it is also fun and
rewarding and those who are determined will
inevitably succeed! It is also very highly
thought of by universities as its
illustrates commitment and is a programme of
individual challenge.
