Key Stage 1
The Key Stage 1 section encompasses Year 1
and 2 children. Every class has maximum of
20 pupils, and has a teacher and assistant
teacher to lead the children in their
learning. Our aim is to create a safe, happy
and stimulating learning environment where
both academic and social aspects of a
child's development are cared for.
The children are accommodated on the ground
floor of the Primary building allowing safe
and easy access for everyone. They have
access to a purpose built
ICT suite and library.
The curriculum is based on the English
National Curriculum with adaptations for our
international make-up. The children study
Maths,
English,
Science,
ICT,
Humanities,
Art. They also benefit from specialist
lessons in
Music (2 per week); swimming (1 per
week);
Arabic (2 per week) and
PE (2 per week). We also use the school
library on a regular basis.
Careful planning has ensured that our pupils
are fully prepared for their transition into
the Prep Department's Year 3. In addition to
their academic studies, children are
encouraged to participate in our after
school
Extra Curriculum Activities (ECA's)
programme, where a host of sporting,
artistic and musical activities are offered
to enrich the children's learning
experience.
Key
Stage 2
The four years (Year 3 – 6) that pupils
spend in Key Stage 2, build on and develop
the great strides they have made in Key
Stage 1. We believe it is our responsibility
to provide an exciting and stimulating
environment in which children can discover
and then make the most of their talents.
Every class has a maximum of twenty pupils,
and it is through a wide range of challenges
and experiences that our pupils develop
lively, questioning and informed minds. They
have the opportunity to explore, investigate
and analyse during the course of their
academic studies.
Field trips out of school, concerts,
productions, sports competitions and a vast
range of
extra-curricular activities add breadth
and interest to our pupils as they are
guided towards the Secondary school. Class
and specialist teachers deliver the academic
curriculum, which includes the following
major areas:
English,
Mathematics,
Science,
History,
Georgaphy,
Art,
Music,
Physical Education,
Arabic and
Modern Foreign Languages, which focuses
on French.
High academic and social standards are our
expectation. A team of truly dedicated
teachers and assistant teachers support
pupils as they grow into self-confident,
high-achieving and compassionate members of
the community.
