International Award
(must be over 14) |
The International Award is a qualification that is
internationally recognised by both employers and
universities. Students work independently through four
different sections (expedition, recreation, skills &
community). The bronze award is usually completed over
the course of 6 months whereas the silver takes a
minimum of 12 months. The school has been running this
award for 3 years and it has become a major part of the
school’s ECA program. If you would like more
information about the IA then please see Mrs Davidson or
Mr Andrew for an application form. You do not have to
sign up for this through the ECA brochure.
MUN stands for the Model United Nations. MUN
conferences are huge international events through which
pupils get the opportunity to meet students from many
other schools and engage in political, economic and
cultural debate by representing a randomly selected
country. NCBIS has attended a number of MUN conferences
and those students that have attended will testify to
the quality of the event and the long-reaching positive
affect that the experience has had on them. If you
would like to know more about the MUN then please see
Mrs Newton. You do have to sign up for this through the
ECA brochure.

School Productions
(Secondary and KS2) |
The school has a growing reputation for producing
exciting and professional standard drama productions.
If you think that you would like to be part of this then
please see Miss Walker (secondary) or Mrs Richardson
(KS2). They will be able to tell you the production
dates and the rehearsal schedule so that you can make an
informed decision about which ECAs you are available
for. The rehearsal day for the secondary production in
the 1st term will be on Tuesdays, initially
and then on Thursdays as well later. You do not have to
sign up for this through the ECA brochure.
The school orchestra has grown considerably in the last
two years. It regularly puts on concerts, supports
school productions and features in official school
functions. If you play a musical instrument and would
like to be a part of the excellent school orchestra then
see Miss Lala and don’t forget to sign-up on the
official ECA form.
NCBIS runs a wide range of sports teams and competes in
both local and international events. If you would like
to be considered for selection for any of the NCBIS
representative teams then please see the noticeboard for
training times and tournament dates. You should also
see one of the coaches for your sport for more
information. You do have to sign up for sports teams
through the ECA brochure.
The school puts on a lot of productions, assemblies and
functions. In order to make these events as effective
as possible specialists are required to do the lighting
and sound. Last year a small group of students became
experts in these technical areas. If you would like to
learn how to do the lighting and sound for theatre
productions then please see Mr Keer-Keer about what this
entails. You do not have to sign up for this through the
ECA brochure.

Mother tongue Arabic speakers have this outstanding
opportunity to develop their understanding and
proficiency of French. It is not compulsory, but we
strongly encourage students to become involved as it
will be their only access to this language. The lessons
will take place after school from 2:45 – 3:45 and will
follow the normal ECA transport arrangements. For Years
3 & 4, lessons will run on Sundays and Wednesdays. For
Years 5 & 6, lessons will be on Mondays and Thursdays.
Application forms for these lessons can be obtained from
the Primary office after 7th September.
Can you organise a competition? Do you have ideas for a
competition? This is your chance to organise a variety
of competitions and games for your fellow students. If
