The Parents’ Group at NCBIS has been busy again at the start of this
season.
The Parents’ Group at NCBIS started their activities for the new school
year by collecting food items for some of the poorer Egyptian families
in the local Katameya area. The local staff at school were also given a
Ramadan Food Parcel containing items like rice, oil, dried fruits, sugar
etc.
The response of the families within the school was overwhelming. The
Parents’ Group put together 226 parcels which were distributed on
Thursday 5 October. This amount exceeded the collection in previous
years by far. Thanks to everyone involved.
The Parents’ Group of NCBIS also supported the school in promoting road
safety in Egypt. They created a Traffic Park, where children were
introduced to zebra-crossings, different road signs and a working
traffic light.
By using a questionnaire the children were able to discover the meaning
of some road signs. During the morning assembly, some students showed
what they had learned in their classrooms about road safety. It was
clear they hadn't forgotten last years "SEATBELT ON" slogan.
To make the children think about safety issues, a competition has been
launched to create a “Safe Vehicle for Cairo”. The Parents’ Group looks
forward to receiving the entries, which could be in the form of a
drawing, poem or model.
Upcoming events for the Parents’ Group at NCBIS are:
International Evening in November
Cookbook Promotion
Christmas Giving Tree Project at Christmas
