Class Parent Committee
It
is important that every parent feels welcome in school and this committee
works on creating the opportunity for all parents to get in touch with each
other. There is a Class Parent for every year group in Primary who organize
small events like coffee mornings to get to know each other and provide
opportunities for children to get together outside school. In Secondary, we
have a welcoming committee to greet new families and we have just started to
organize a coffee morning where existing Secondary parents can get together
from time to time to swap experiences.
Social Event Committee
In November 2007, this
committee organised a very successful International
Evening at School where all parents were invited to bring a dish and share their
culture with other parents and staff members. In February 2007, we organized our 2nd
Annual Cocktail
Evening in Katameya Club House which
was attended by over 150 parents and staff members. See the Gallery Section under
Activities on the menu to witness how we got on!!!
Cook Book Committee
During
the school year 2005/06 many parents supplied us with great recipes. The
committee put all recipes together and created a great cook book. All
revenues will flow back into the school again with funds having been
allocated to library books by the Student Council. Please go and buy those books now at
the Cashiers for 50 LE each.
Sport
Events Committee
This
committee takes care of providing refreshments during the many sports
activities and tournaments held on the school grounds. Most tournaments are
played in the weekends. The supply of drinks and snacks make the tournaments
much more enjoyable for both athletes and supporting parents.
Family
Day Committee
The
Parents’ Group also helps the school to organise
this major event. The Parents’ Group has been responsible for the
Auction Baskets and the Toy and Bottle Tombola. In
2005/06 these stalls contributed more than LE 5.500 to the total Family Day
revenues of which 50 % was donated to a charity.
Charities
Committee
On
many occasions we have been able to donate money to local charities. We organise the collection and distribution of food and
other useful items in the Katameya neighbourhood during the weeks of Ramadan. In the
Christmas period we organise the “Giving Tree
Project” whereby children are encouraged to donate a toy or other
useful item to those less fortunate than themselves. We have in the past also
raised money for a local charity during the Valentine pancake sales.
ThankYou!!!
We
would like to thank all parents in school for their support in buying our
cakes, gifts and raffle tickets. In December 2006, we were able to make a
contribution of LE 10.000 towards the upgrading of the Auditorium at school and
with the proceeds of the Cocktail event (almost LE 25000!!)
, we will soon be purchasing a projector for use in the Auditorium.
