At NCBIS we Follow the British National
Curriculum
The UK government has set down guidelines
for all British Schools to follow. The National Literacy
Strategy sets out teaching objectives term-by-term,
year-by-ear, which provide the basis for the English
curriculum. The National Numeracy Strategy is the basis
for the numeracy curriculum. At NCBIS we use and adapt
the strategies to suit the requirements and needs of the
students. The remainder of the curriculum is covered by
the QCA documents, which provide clear objectives and learning
outcomes for Science, History, Geography, Design Technology,
Art and ICT. The teachers plan taking into account the
children’s needs and our location and environment.
Termly
Curriculum Overviews
- A termly overview
is provided at the beginning of each term to give parents
a better understanding of what is to be covered in each
curriculum area.
- If any parent considers
they have a particular skill or job related to any of the
topics covered we would be very pleased to hear from you
in order to encourage community links within our school.
Reporting to
Parents
- Parents will
receive a written report for their child at the end of
each term,
- Parent - teacher
evenings are held twice each year, at the end of term 1
(December) and term 2 (April).
- Parents can make
an appointment to meet with the class teacher any time
during the academic year.
Individual
Educational Needs
For children who have particular individual
needs there is a full time support team. They provide
additional help either within the classroom or through the
withdrawal of the children during specific timetable periods.
English as an
Additional Language
For children who have English as an
additional language there is full time support within the
Primary School. Children with this support are usually
timetabled during French or Arabic
