Extra-Curricular Activities Program (ECA)
NCBIS operates an extensive ECA program across all Key
Stages and age groups. Our aim is to provide students with
an exciting, dynamic program of activities outside of the
normal curriculum that will be delivered by willing,
enthusiastic and qualified teachers that will enhance their
life experience, increase their skill set and develop their
‘whole self’ in line with the school’s mission statement.
The students have access to a wide range of activities from SCUBA diving
to fencing, from mandalas (an Indian art form) to yoga and
from skateboarding to 1st Aid. Currently the
school runs over 60 clubs per week. Over 70% of the
students at the school take part in ECAs and on average each
of those students participates in at least 2 clubs.
Through the extra-curricular program students have access to:
This year over 60 students will gain an award or
qualification. This includes 1st Aid
qualification, Duke of Edinburgh bronze or silver award and
the Open Water Diving Award
- INTERNATIONAL SPORTING COMPETITION:
NCBIS has an extensive sporting program that
participates in competitions for students from all age
groups (Yr 3 to Yr 13) and covers a wide variety of sports.
During the course of the year NCBIS will compete in
competitions from Syria to Abu Dhabi and from Kuwait to
Dubai.
As a celebration of their learnt outdoor and
navigational skills a group of students studying for the
bronze and silver International Awards (Duke of Edinburgh)
will be traveling to Kenya to climb Mt Kenya in February.
After the climb the students will have the opportunity to
relax and possibly go on safari.
One of the highlights of the year is the secondary
school production. Many students audition for these shows,
but only a select few are chosen for the main characters.
This year’s production will be ‘Hitch Hikers Guide to the
Galaxy’ and there are already over 30 students involved in
this.
The school runs a number of peripatetic lessons for
instruments ranging from trumpet to guitar. All of the
teachers are highly qualified and many are brought in from
outside the school.
- MUN, RECYCLING, NEWSPAPER WRITING
The school has an excellent history of participating in
the MUN and this year is no different. We are also
committed to recycling and have an ECA dedicated to this
end. Most recently students in the primary school have
begun writing their own newspaper reporting on and
commenting on important issues in the school.
Maybe not extreme in the true sense of the word, but
different certainly. Students will be able to take part in
skateboarding, fencing, water polo, yoga, chi gung,
aerobics, table tennis and many others
The school places a lot of value on students’ creativity
and there are many clubs devoted to this area. Clubs
include Art & Craft, mandalas, landscape painting, beading,
embroidery, clothes making and much, much more. |
